The SAE Institute, the largest educational institution for media worldwide, opened its first campus in Istanbul, Turkey on November 25th 2009. From now on, the future leaders in the field of media will be educated in the heart of the metropolis on the banks of the Bosporus.
In his impressive speech at the grand opening, Mr. Ahmet Misbah Demicran, the mayor of Beyoglu, announced the cooperation of the city of Istanbul and the SAE Institute for the year 2010, during which Istanbul will be the European Capital of Culture. SAE students will play a major role in the active implementation of the technical requirements for many events and presentations.
Afterwards Rudiger Grieme, Vice President of SAE, spoke about the motivation and the process that led to the creation of SAE Istanbul. "We have been watching the turkish market for years and we see great potential for the media industry in Turkey, especially with regard to film and audio. The opening of branches in Turkey is a consequent measure within our strategic planning," said Grieme." After an extensive search we found a historical piece of real estate in a perfect location. We were able to play an integral part in the restoration, rehabilitation and renovation of the property, so that a pioneering technology campus could be created."
Many specialists of the branch were very impressed by the building and the technical equipment. One of the highlights that can be found on the 1200 square meter property is a studio with an Icon Digidesign D-Control ES32 including an HD3 System, an AMS Neve Genesys console, a Tascam DM 4800 and three recording rooms.
Audio Engineer Alp Turaç commented, "Such high-quality equipment is unparalleled in Turkey and it will probably stay that way for a long time to come. One can only envy the students at SAE Istanbul.''
About 300 media industry guests, including internationally renowned Audio Engineers, producers and musicians, celebrated with live performances of some of todays hottest DJs. They networked and enjoyed the beautiful view from the roof terrace of the new SAE branch at the Bosporus until late into the evening.
"This is the first time that almost all the leading people in the media industry of Istanbul have come together in one place. Many of the colleagues here have not seen each other in years," commented Hakan Kursun, Manager of SAE Istanbul, about the grand opening.
