Marcel, 43 and born in Cologne, Germany, features 25 years of professional business experience, covering the fields of video technology, content production, Consumer Electronics, Research & Develpment, marketing communication, press organization, sales & training. Over the years, Marcel worked from home theater stores to publishing companies to Samsung’s R&D department in Suwon-City, South Korea, before he finally started his own career as a video consultant in 2008. Today Marcel is VP of Marketing at Portrait Displays, a California based company specialized in software for displays ensuring color accuracy every step of the way, from the creation of the first frame to its appearance on the screen of any device. Our clients range from the most renowned production and post production facilities in Hollywood, such as Lucasfilm, Disney, Marvel Studios, Netflix, Amazon, Fotokem, Technicolor, or Deluxe. We operate in the field of OEM businesses, providing software solutions to PC and Laptop manufacturers such as Dell, HP, Lenovo, ASUS, and MSI, and collaborate with the world’s largest TV brands such as Samsung, LG, Sony, Panasonic, Philips, TCL, to name a few. On top of that, we are the brand behind the Calman® color calibration software, which is utilized by Hollywood’s most respected color professionals, as well by freelance DITs, colorists, and creative professionals around the world. Some milestones in my career include the production management of one of Germany’s first live 4K multi-camera recordings (2012), production management of the world’s first 4K live rock concert broadcast of LINKIN PARK’s “The Hunting Party” Tour in Berlin (2014), producing the COLOR MATTERS mini-series documentary (2021 and ongoing), and building up a content marketing division within the Portrait Displays Marketing Team in San Francisco, CA. Beside my activities in the color calibration domain, I still run WLC Enterprises, a media company specialized in the fields of content creation, content distribution, content licensing, video consulting, and branded entertainment.
