ACCESS AND PARTICIPATION
SAE Institute is committed to widening participation for learners who are looking to gain experience and obtain qualifications that will enable them to enter the creative media industries.

Access & participation at sae
SAE’s Access and Participation Plan focuses our activities on improving access, success and progression for the following groups in particular:
- Care experienced or estranged students
- Students with a low household (family) income
- Black, Asian, Mixed and Global Majority students
- Disabled students
- Mature students
- Students from IMD Quintiles 1 and 2 and/or previously eligible for free school meals (FSM)
In the first instance, a range of bursaries have been developed to support students from specific underrepresented groups to be able to engage and succeed in their studies. These can be found here.
Our Annual Fee Information for 25-26 can be found here.

School and College Links
We have good links with schools and Further Education colleges, offering students the chance to continue on to Higher Education programmes that place a premium on applied and industry-linked learning.
ABOUT Access & participation PLANS
Access and participation plans set out how higher education providers will improve equality of opportunity for underrepresented groups to access, succeed in and progress from higher education. Specifically, our plan covers our ambition for change; what we plan to do to achieve that change; the targets we have set; and the investment we will make to deliver the plan. It covers the three main areas identified by the OfS as follows:
Access: To increase the entry rates of students from underrepresented groups to higher education, in particular reducing the participation gaps at the most selective providers, where they are the widest; and to reverse the decline in higher education participation by mature students from underrepresented groups.
Success: To reduce the non-continuation rates (commonly known as ‘drop-out rates’) of students from underrepresented groups, particularly those from ethnically diverse groups and those with disabilities, and to reduce the gaps between these groups and other students; and to reduce the attainment gaps between students from underrepresented groups, particularly those from ethnically diverse groups and those with disabilities, and those from other groups.
Progression: To improve the rates of progression of students from underrepresented groups, particularly those from ethnically diverse groups and those with disabilities, into graduate-level employment or further study, and to reduce the gaps between these groups and other students.
OUR Access & participation PLAN
We offer learners the opportunity to access 2-year accelerated degree-level programmes of study. These reduce the overall cost of study for individual learners, making it more affordable to gain qualifications and helping our graduates get their careers started sooner. But if they prefer a more traditional learning route, we offer non-accelerated 3-year degrees at our London and Liverpool campuses, too.
Our small class sizes and access to studios and resources ensure the majority of our students progress from Year 1 to Year 2. Students are supported in their final stage to become an independent learner by managing a significant creative project which often helps them secure a career in the creative industries.
