Congratulations to SAE student Oliver Crowe for his work taking photos documenting the opening of new co-working space, Fold, and the Ikigai Japanese Festival.
As a Content Creation student at SAE’s Leamington Spa campus, Oliver has had the opportunity to gain vital work experience outside of the classroom to accompany his studies.
He attended the opening event of the Fold, a new co-working space with studios open to solo creative professionals, small teams and big businesses in the area.
Commenting, Oliver said: “The event itself was a great experience, highlighted by an engaging performance from Motionhouse.”
“My focus during the event centered on capturing candid group shots, despite the challenging lighting conditions. The shoot was successful, and post-production primarily involved balancing colours and reducing noise.”
He also attended the Ikigai Japanese Festival at Leamington Spa’s Assembly Rooms.
Oliver said: “On the day of the festival, myself and other classmates arrived ready to shoot and film aspects of the event. I focused on capturing images of the performers, this ranged from Taiko Drummers, Japanese pop stars and a beautifully choreographed Samurai performance.”
“The shoot provided conditions unlike any other I had been on, flashing and brightly coloured lights and fast moving performers. The post-production for this was a joy, utilising the contrasting lights to create dramatic images. This was a fantastic experience and has fuelled my excitement to hopefully shoot similar events in the future.”
Liane Green, Course Leader for the Content Creation and Online Marketing Degree, said: “Oliver has been a shining light of talent since he joined us in September 2023. He is not just super talented, but has a professional attitude when working with clients and has been offered more occasional work at Cogent’s Junction 11 studios in Banbury.”
“I believe that a successful graduate requires a synergy of both academic study and industry engagement. Students having the opportunity to work on live briefs with industry clients nurtures confidence, builds working relationships and offers the opportunity to develop online portfolio content. This is the mantra of the SAE Leamington Spa Campus.”
