Congratulations to the team of SAE Liverpool alumni and students behind the Jacaranda Campus label, a new imprint launching to champion emerging bands and artists.
The label has been set up to showcase the breadth of musical and creative talent within SAE’s community.
It will celebrate its inaugural release with a launch party at the Jacaranda venue on Slater Street on 12th April featuring performances from new acts, Hazmat, Simorah and Zetland.
You can pick up tickets for the event now.
Zetland (pictured above) will be the label’s first release with a new track called Strawberry Dust.
This single is taken from the band’s upcoming EP, Music For Lava Lamps, produced by SAE Audio Production student Myá Angel,
Myá is also organising the launch party event as part of her SAE studies, including her Advanced Specialised Project.
Commenting on the band, she said: “Zetland are a refreshing and exciting addition to the music scene in Liverpool. I’m very pleased to be launching the label with such talent!”
The team behind the label (pictured above from left to right) includes Jacob Sharp, studying SAE’s MA Professional Practice in Audio Production, Audio Production students Ell Burgess and Myá alongside alumnus, Chris Tadd.
Chris, SAE alumnus and Campus Label Coordinator, said: “The idea for the label began in 2023 when Jacaranda Records’ Jon Withnall and Iain S Bruce proposed this grassroots label idea to SAE students.”
“I put myself forward, they brought me on in a Head of Department role and we spent the year meeting up to discuss the structure and how we would evolve the label.”
“Now in 2024, we’ve officially launched our social media profiles and have a schedule of releases lined up with the debut single coming from a band called Zetland and their track, Strawberry Dust.”
“The idea is to create a structure for the label. We have a team behind it and are focused on putting releases together, recording bands and give students this vital industry experience – it’s been going really well so far.”
“In terms of our integration with Liverpool’s music scene, this gives us a direct channel for everyone involved with the label at SAE. In the future, we are aiming to release music every two weeks from across the SAE community.”
Get tickets for the launch event and look out for more upcoming releases.
