Congratulations to SAE Web Design and Development student Hamed (Aitch) Musari on winning the Best Web/Tech Project at the 2024 SAE Awards.
This annual event celebrates outstanding achievements in media production across SAE’s global network, and Aitch’s dedication and creativity stood out among many exceptional submissions from alumni worldwide.
The coveted trophies were awarded in 15 categories in 2024 and went to teams and individuals from Australia, Germany, Greece, the UK, Mexico, Austria and Switzerland.
274 music, film, game, VFX and web productions, submitted by media professionals from 24 different SAE locations, made it to the final selection of the international jury.
The award ceremony took place on 23 October 2024 in Frankfurt.
Frieda Bañuelos Avilés from the SAE Institute Mexico City provided a special goosebump moment with a performance at the ceremony at Frankfurt’s Gibson Club.
Aitch’s prize was for an SaaS platform called Stick To It, a productivity and collaborative all-in-one workspace where users can organise, manage and track to-dos, notes and more.
Commenting, Aitch said: “I came up with this idea because I felt so bad about using so many sticky notes in real life and how messy things could get after a few notes lying around the house. Apps like Notion solved the issue of excess paper use and accessibility but I wasn’t a big fan of the interface.”
“That’s why we created a web app that has the best things of both worlds. Now you can envision it, plan it and Stick To It at sticktoit.online.”
We caught up with Aitch to hear more about the event and winning the award.
What does winning mean to you at this stage in your career?
It meant a lot because I found out about these awards before I started my studies at SAE. And I remember in my first year, I signed up for the same category but I wasn’t even nominated, so I went back to the drawing board but this time chasing only one scenario – TO WIN. I guess the hard work paid off.
How was the event in Frankfurt?
It was amazing! First of all, thanks to the SAE team again for taking care of the flight and accommodation, I couldn’t have wished for more. I got the chance to visit the Frankfurt campus which was very cool and also meet other like-minded people and connect with them.
I had the chance to talk to the team that works behind the scenes and have a better understanding of the complexity of running the event itself. Finally, I had a day to explore the city and visit a few museums which was also phenomenal.
What is next for you and your creative career? Do you have current/future projects lined up?
Yes, I do, I am currently working on my fintech startup Financiv. Financiv is a versatile, user-friendly personal finance platform where anyone, regardless of their financial background, can access all the essential tools and resources in one single place.
Users can easily navigate between various features, track their financial progress, and make informed decisions with confidence. The platform is designed to simplify personal finance management, empowering users to take control of their financial future.
This project started as part of my final major project for my BSc in Web Development, but it has been an idea I’ve nurtured for the past six years. Growing up in a working-class family, I developed a strong interest in finance and technology but never found a platform that could replicate the ideas I had and the issues I was trying to solve, and that’s how Financiv came to fruition.
The platform is currently in its early stages (beta v0.02) but there is so much more to come from Q1 2025 so stay tuned. Also, you might see me again for the SAE Awards, this time as an alumnus.
How have your SAE studies helped you with regard to your startup?
SAE has made me feel more confident about being creative. I have always chased perfection in different module projects even though it was the first time doing whatever was required.
Now I have grown with the confidence and understanding that not everything will go as planned but it shouldn’t limit me from pursuing different strategies from others and trying again if failure was the first response.
