How did your passion for Content Creation start?
It all started when I first watched Michelle Pham on YouTube when I was ten years old. I sort of got into the habit of watching YouTubers from then on. I think it’s only natural for people my age as digital natives to have grown up with YouTubers, Instagrammers, and before even being an influencer was an actual job role you could take on.
Watching this evolution made me realise how I’d like to be on camera and share what I’m doing, especially because my life changed a lot when I was 14 and moved to the UK. I thought maybe I could share my perspectives from that sense.
I kept that passion and academically tried one route, and then that didn’t work. And then I realised, let me rethink what I actually want to do. I realised I wanted to create content and work in marketing, which is why I joined SAE so I could explore this.
What led you to study at SAE, and how have you found the experience so far?
The two-year accelerated course was attractive, as was the project-based approach to learning instead of exams, which really suited me.
I found my experience insightful; it taught me independence, how to study, and socialise, and gave me insights into my professional life.
What have been the most important things you’ve learned from the course?
The most important thing I’ve learned is that if you want something, you have to go and get it. You need to speak up if something isn’t right and vocalise your needs and desires. It’s essential to learn to stand up for yourself and have your own voice, both in professional and personal settings.
How does the course support your career ambitions?
The course supports my career ambitions by providing real-life settings. For example, working on an independent film project allowed me to be involved in the behind-the-scenes aspects and create a marketing plan, offering valuable real-life experience.
What’s the community like at SAE?
The community at the London campus is great. It’s inviting, with good vibes, and very supportive. You can approach the staff and teachers with any questions or problems. We all share a passion for creativity and education, which brings us together.
Can you tell me about your tutors and how they have guided you?
My tutors are knowledgeable and passionate. They have experienced the ups and downs of the creative industry and can provide firsthand knowledge and experience. One specific experience was when a tutor helped me overcome a creative block during a project by guiding me through the process, which made it easier for me to complete my work successfully.
What has been your favourite part of the course or a favourite module, and why did you love it?
My favourite module was the creative collaboration module in my second year. I collaborated with students to create a marketing campaign for a gaming project.
It was wonderful because I learned about gaming, VR, and robots, which expanded my understanding of marketing and taught me the importance of working with others.
Have there been any moments of true inspiration or epiphanies during the course?
Yes, a moment of epiphany for me was realising how knowledgeable and experienced my teachers are. Seeing their success and experience made me confident that I can reach that level too. They are living proof that I am on the right path.
Do you have any advice for anyone considering the content creation and online marketing course?
I would advise them to come with an open mind. It’s much more than just being an influencer. Be motivated to learn, listen to your teachers, and learn from your peers.
What’s next for you after graduation?
My plan is to go along with what comes next, just taking opportunities as they arise.
