A new Christmas single, Always A Home (At Christmas), born from an idea by Music Business student Jessie Littleton and supported by SAE Music Business Lecturer Duncan Lewis, has been released to raise funds for charity.
The track is a collaborative release featuring 18 artists who competed in the Primal Live song contest at Camp and Furnace in Liverpool.
Duncan was invited by the organisers Primal Live, with a background in management and hosting songwriting retreats, to be a judge for the competition.
As part of the contest, a mentoring programme is offered to participants which is how Duncan meant Jessie and she joined the SAE Music Business course.
Commenting, Duncan said: “During one of my lectures Jessie’s hand went up and she said she had had a great idea for charity – a Christmas single with an original song sung by all the Primal Live competitors to raise money for The Whitechapel Centre.”
“Primal Live loved the idea and again SAE Liverpool offered the facilities to record it. A few weeks later the session was underway. Engineered and mixed by SAE CST staff Chris Hendrick with extra recording and assistance from James Webb and former SAE Audio Production student Savio Issac.”
Jessie Littleton said: “From an idea that came to me in class, it’s been brilliant to see this all to come together and experience the work it takes to not only record but to put out a single too.”
The Whitechapel Centre will receive streaming revenue from the release. Anyone interested in donating directly can do so via the JustGiving page Primal Live Fundraising for the Whitechapel Centre.
