Giorgia Tobiolo

Photographic Storytelling Lecturer on Content Creation and Online Marketing Course

Bio

Giorgia is a photographer and educator, based in London.

Using photography as a therapeutic process and personal research, Giorgia’s work can be interpreted as a circular practice. Raising internal questions stimulates her to tell stories by examining the external environment. Ultimately, with her practice, she aims to break down the indifference towards certain topics and give a voice to people who need recognition, support or inclusion.

Besides her MA in Photojournalism and Documentary Photography at the University of Westminster, she has completed an internship with Magnum Photos – one of her key career highlights.

Giorgia has worked with schools, festivals, charities, associations, private clients, magazines and institutions such as Urban Photo Fest, Photography Oxford Festival, the Calthorpe Project, Caritas Foundation, Migrants Resource Centre, the Prison of Pescara, Reuters Institute, CNN, Source Magazine and more. She is now collaborating with private clients and inspiring institutions such as UAL and BAPH and working on photojournalistic pieces for organisations like Al Jazeera, capturing portraits, telling stories, and covering news, music, and events. She also works on personal long-term documentary projects, using both digital and film formats with a variety of cameras to explore themes of vulnerability, humanity, and diversity.

She was shortlisted in the Professional Category of the 2014 Sony World Photography Awards and in the “30 Under 30” competition of Magnum Photos.

Giorgia has additionally been featured and collaborates with Al Jazeera, and she was recently invited to Photojournalism Nights to discuss her project ‘The (.) Error’ regarding her work on a long-term project about PMDD (Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder).
