Bio
Paul Hunter is an Audio Production Lecturer at SAE Liverpool and a DJ, producer and remixer with more than three decades of industry experience. His career spans international touring, chart success and releases on some of the most respected labels in electronic music.
Paul reached number one on the US Billboard charts with his dance act Desert, a major milestone that cemented his place in the global electronic music scene. He has also released tracks on influential labels including Mute and Ministry of Sound.
One of the defining moments of Paul’s career was achieving a number one on the American Billboard chart. His productions have been signed to labels such as Ministry of Sound and Mute, working alongside artists and brands across the global dance music industry.
Paul toured the world as a DJ for the superclub Cream, performing regularly at the flagship Liverpool venue and holding residencies in Ibiza, Tenerife and Cyprus. His sets, rooted in US house, helped shape club nights and warm-up journeys for packed dancefloors across the globe.
He has also worked with leading figures and organisations in dance music, including Cream, Ministry of Sound and Danny Tenaglia.
Alongside his DJ career, Paul continued producing music and building a strong studio practice. With over 30 years as a producer and more than 20 years in education, he brings a rare combination of real-world industry experience and long-term teaching expertise.
He holds a Master’s degree and a Postgraduate Certificate in education, and has spent over a decade at SAE Liverpool, supporting the next generation of music producers.
Paul is passionate about helping students develop their craft properly. He encourages producers to focus on quality, patience and continuous learning, reminding them that great music takes time and that the learning process never truly ends.

I love both Ableton and Logic equally for different things.

Doing a job that I’m passionate about and the energy of dance music culture.
