Bio
Scott began his journey into art and animation at a young age, focusing primarily on creature design with family members and quickly being inspired by sci-fi fantasy settings. Before long he took his studies and spent time honing his skills in traditional styles of painting & drawing before attending university to focus on illustration with a side-focus on Animation and animated techniques.
Scott is trained in traditional drawing and 2D digital concept art, with skills in graphic design, video editing, and 3D design, and looks at how fantastical scenes can be achieved through clever manipulation of computer programs such as Adobe Photoshop and Zbrush. Scott believes that while traditional methods of mark-making are something that can add nuance to the scene, building new skills around 3D digital skills and photo manipulation can stretch the boundaries of any artist’s portfolio.
Scott is also an avid learner, believing that learning is a constant, lifelong process and as such will be seen working alongside his students to learn new skills to branch out his portfolio. His approach to skills-building has students evaluating their entire process throughout their education, and often uses benchmark assessments to demonstrate growth to his students as much as possible.
