Have you ever wondered how to develop industry knowledge and entrepreneurial skills required to pursue a successful career in the music industry?
With all the restrictions lifted in Amsterdam, our music business students had the possibility of visiting industry-leading companies that shared their vision, business operations, and inside tips to help them shape their future as professionals in the music industry. One of the highlights of these visits was Sony Netherlands. The offices are located in one of the most iconic buildings of the city, the ADAM tower – the perfect environment to enjoy the views while producing a new track or having a meeting with new up-and-coming artists. Our students met with A&R Manager Carlos van Erven, who showed them the insights of his experience working with Sony, and how to keep up with new trends and new artists in the industry as they emerge.
The week after, they had the chance of visiting the Friendly Fire offices, one of the most important booking agencies that specialize in artist management, concerts, festivals, and event organization like Best Kept Secret, Indian Summer Festival, 22fest and many more. Some of the events they organize, host artists like The Strokes, Massive Attack, Belle and Sebastian and DJ Shadow.
